Q: What kind of recording device is used with the wireless headset?
A: The wireless headset does not record onto a device that you carry around. The headset transmits your speech back to the laptop or tablet where voice commands and dictation are processed.
A: The wireless headset transmitter/reciever connects to the laptop or tablet via a USB port. The Plantronics wireless headset transmits at 900 Mhz and automatically finds an open secure channel. This is similar to a household cordless telephone.
Version 3 allows a Bluetooth headset for voice commands for those that want to carry a Windows tablet.  Keep in mind Bluetooth only has a range of about 30ft for Bluetooth 3 and about 90ft for Bluetooth 4.  We recommend either the Plantronics Voyager Legend or the Voyager 5200.
A: The Plantronics 900mhz wireless headset has a specified range of approximately 250 feet and transmits through walls and ceilings. Actual results have demonstrated distances that exceed the 250 foot specification.  There are limitations with wire mesh in hard stucco walls and roof radiant barriers.
A: As you approach the range limit, the headset will beep two times to warn you before you reach the range limit. If you remain out of range for more than 15 minutes the headset will turn off.
A: On a full charge the batteries will last about 6-7 hours.
A: When the headset battery is running low(about 5 minutes left) an audible beep will be heard through the headset as a single beep repeated every 10 seconds.
A: The headset will recharge 80% in 1.5 hours and is fully charged in 3 hours. When doing multiple inspections a day, return the headset to the charger while talking to your client at the end of the inspection.
A: During the trial period after you have become familiar with the Interspect user interface, we recommend purchasing an inexpensive wired headset to try out the voice commands integrated into the software. Plantronics sells the Audio 310 which works very well with the Interspect Voice Module. You can find this microphone at local electronic shops.
A: The wireless headset uses a noise cancellation microphone to minimize background noise. This is done using two microphones - one facing inward and one facing outward.Because of this configuration, wind can affect the performance of the microphone. To avoid this, turn your back to the wind to shield the microphone when outside on windy days. You can also cup your hand over the microphone to block out the wind noise. You can also purchase a wind screen to help in reducing noise.  If using a wind screen remember to create your voice profile with the wind screen on.
